Happy Halloween! The kids are at school and I’m putting the finishing touches on my costume. We’ll all head downtown this afternoon to visit the Davis Treat Trail—the local shops hand out candy and the neighborhood theatre shows It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown on repeat—before going to a friends’ house for an annual get together and more trick-or-treating. I’ll share some photos tomorrow.
Here’s a quick last minute crudité platter idea if you’re tasked with bringing something to a potluck tonight: radish eyeballs! I used my zester to make the lines and then cut the bottom side of each radish flat to sit on a plate. You could also use a vegetable peeler or a paring knife, but this tool is easiest. Next, I took a toothpick and dipped it in a bit of blue food coloring before puncturing each eyeball. You could also stuff the radishes with olives, but that takes a bit more time. It’s a quick way to dress up one of those grab-and-go crudité mixes you’ll likely find in your local market. So simple!
Have a great evening!
P.S. More last-minute inspiration.
