HomeAway offers the world’s largest selection of vacation home rentals that provide travelers with memorable vacation experiences and benefits, including more room to relax and added privacy, for less than the cost of traditional hotel accommodations. Make memories where you stay, not just where you go.HomeAway.com – let’s stay together.
Some of my favorite memories of trips with friends involve sharing a cabin on a snowy night. And with the holidays approaching, I’ve been thinking about how much fun it would be to get a group together and head into the mountains, to Lake Tahoe. I picture stovetop espresso, donuts from a local shop, long-johns and ski boots; we’d build roaring fires, drink hot cocoa, and feel the cold air on our faces while sitting in the hot tub. It’s a vivid image, really–I can even smell that distinctive mountain air smell: a combination of earth and smoke and pine.
I’ve been choosing favorite cabins on Homeaway.com and starring them in case a trip works out this winter. I’ve found places sleeping anywhere from 10 to 12 to 80 (!) people, many of them with multiple master bedrooms. There are over 1800 rentals in the Lake Tahoe Area alone. How awesome would it be to rent someplace mid-mountain and ski in and out?
I’d love to find something like this 1961-built A-Frame to rent.
Or something more modern, like this.
Have you gone in on a rental with a group of friends before? Where to?
