“There’s always money in the banana stand.”

Frozen-chocolate-dipped-banana-pop

Continuing the theme of frozen treats, who’s making frozen bananas this weekend to welcome back Arrested Development? 15 new half-hour episodes are being released en masse on Netflix on Sunday at 00:01 PST. Welcome back, Bluth family! I can’t believe it’s been seven years.

How to make frozen chocolate-dipped bananas:
For every 2 bananas (ripe but firm), you need roughly 6 oz of chocolate and 2 Tbsp of coconut or vegetable oil. Sprinkles (or jimmies), nuts, coconut are all your call. You’ll also need popsicle sticks, unless you’d rather cut them into bites.

Insert a Popsicle stick into each banana and place on baking sheet lined with foil. Freeze for at least 15 minutes.
Melt the chocolate with the oil in the microwave (check it every 30 seconds) and stir until smooth. (Same idea as this homemade chocolate magic shell.) Roll each banana half in the chocolate; quickly sprinkle with topping (if using). Keep in freezer for the chocolate to set. 10-20 minutes should do it! If storing for later, move to an airtight container in the freezer.

P.S. Have you seen NPR’s brilliant guide to Arrested Development’s running gags? A friend pointed it out last night (during the Nashville finale, aaah!).
