We took Hudson to Disneyland for the very first time this past Sunday. I thought we would hold out until he was four or five–or at least asking to go–but I realized recently that I wanted the experience of seeing his reaction to it all, having not yet really been exposed to anything Disney.
I grew up in Long Beach, just 12 miles from Disneyland, so it was a familiar (and fond) part of my childhood. And over the holidays, looking through old photo albums and seeing myself there as a toddler made me start thinking about how I was looking forward to being on the other side.
Here, with more than a few favorite family photos, are the top tips we came away with for visiting the park with a toddler (Hudson is 1-1/2, so I’m sure there are different tips to be gleaned for older children)…
I know I may be getting ahead of myself, but it was 80 degrees and sunny in Southern California this past Saturday and it got me thinking.
Do you have a fashion image you have pinned on Pinterest and just keep coming back to, over and over again? This one’s mine. There’s something about this combination of cropped, slim army-green pants, tanned feet, and natural leather, gladiator sandals that says summer to me. And it’s what I’d like to be wearing come warmer days. Pretty please.
I think Gap and Jcrew have some pants that might fit the bill. The right sandals, however, can be more elusive. I’ve done some sleuthing… [Note: the rest of this post has been updated as of July 2015]

Many of you have written in the past, either in comments or directly by email, to ask for travel advice–particularly on the topic of traveling with children. I have a big favor to ask: would you mind sharing more of those questions? I would be so grateful if, in the comment section here, you’d tell me all about your biggest travel questions, your concerns or hesitations (and particularly on that topic of traveling with children).
