For Father’s Day: Jesse’s Top 10 Parenthood Songs

When I was in the hospital having just delivered Hudson, my friend Jesse (a new parent himself at that point, to a nearly one-year old son), sent me a couple of songs as a congratulations. We’ve been friends since college and I’ve always trusted his opinion when it comes to music, so it was a much appreciated gift. In fact, he and his brother and a bunch of their friends still round up their favorite music each year (along with some pithy reviews) on Quickcrit, and I still check in from time to time to round out my collection.
Soon after he sent those, I asked if he would contribute more recommendations to round out a list for the site I was writing at the time, called Babymine. It seems appropriate to resurrect it for Father’s Day…

Trompe-l’œil? Marriage Vacation

There’s a new book out that has caught my attention. “Primates of Park Avenue meets Heartburn,” I believe was the pitch.

Do you watch the TVLand Show, Younger? If so, this might ring a bell.

Marriage Vacation is the fictional book written by the fictional Pauline Brooks, which the fictional editors on the show decide to publish. But, in a unique twist, a ghost writer named Jo Piazza has actually written the book for Brooks and it’s available on Amazon…

Midi Skirts and Summer Dresses

Maybe it’s on trend, or maybe it’s Roman Holiday, but I found myself trying on a dozen midi skirts and dresses while on the hunt for something new to wear on vacation.

Here are some favorites I came across…

From Target, this button-down skirt comes in blue, striped, and black (and has great pockets).

From Topshop and Madewell at Nordstrom, a tie waist striped skirt and a chambray button-front skirt.

From the Main Street Exchange, the Skye Skirt.

Also from Nordstrom, a red Dolman Sleeve Faux Wrap Dress or a little black dress by City Chic.

The red one reminds me of one of my favorites: If budget allowed, I’d take all the Mara Hoffman dresses. This one is called Ingrid.

From JCrew, this Midi skirt in vintage clip dot, or the Pleated Cone Denim midi skirt

From Free people, channeling Pretty Woman in Polka Dots, or something with flowers.

What do you think? Which would you chose?

P.S. It happens to be the cut I wore for most of the time on our last visit to Rome, too!
