It’s no secret that food can be a wonderful means to explore a new place. Tasting new flavors, inhaling new smells—it’s often essential to having a rich travel experience.
But I have a few food staples I like to pick up as soon as we arrive somewhere, stocking the mini fridge or the house pantry. For the kids, there’s always milk, bananas, and peanut butter; for all of us, there’s yogurt.
So when Activia® reached out to see if I would be interested in trying their new Activia Fruit Fusion Lowfat Yogurts, I didn’t hesitate: for years, Aron and I have been starting our travel days with probiotic-rich yogurts—beginning with the balance and comfort of home before going on to sample the city’s flavors.
Personally, I feel like having a few healthy breakfast items in the room—even if you go out to a restaurant for a full meal after—can make all the difference when it comes to staying happy on the road.
Tip: if the hotel you’re staying at has a kitchen or restaurant, they’ll usually let you take some plates and dishes back to the room so that you can fix something up for yourself. The new Activia Fruit Fusion flavors would easily stand alone with just a spoon—creamy yogurt layered atop fruit combinations—or you could take the hotel’s dishes and expand on them. I like to crumble and toss in some of the kids’ granola bars or slice up some extra banana. It makes it feel like we ordered room service.
I’m curious, how do you handle mornings on the road? Do you have some items that you always buy when you get someplace new? What are your travel-snack must-haves?
