We had passed by Jane Walentas’ Dumbo Studio–where she was carefully restoring a beautiful all-wood, 1922-built carousel she and her husband had rescued 27 years ago–many times, hoping we would have a chance to see the finished product.
Happily, a procession of 48 horses made their way out to the waterfront, to their acrylic home in Brooklyn Bridge Park designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel, this summer–and opened for rides this past September! Sadly, I still have yet to Jane’s Carousel in person! (Soon.)
The photos above were all taken by Kate with the exception of the last, which is by her husband, Shawn. Doesn’t it look amazing?!
Have a wonderful weekend! We’re looking forward to cheering on the runners on Sunday (one of our favorite NY events is the marathon); it’s supposed to be another beautiful day!
And P.S. I wrote all about our baby registry and essentials on Baby Mine yesterday.
