Daytrip: Strawberry picking on Long Island

Some photos from Father’s Day: after an early breakfast, we drove out to Long Island’s North Fork for some strawberry picking. It turned out to be such a beautiful day. And Hudson took his naps during the 1-1/2-hour drives there and back, so the timing of it all worked out perfectly.

We stopped at the Country View roadside farm stand, just beyond Southold, for local asparagus and a look at some Alpacas.

The Lunch Truck behind the North Fork Inn made a great pulled pork sandwich. I had the “Grown-up Grilled Cheese” and mixed basil simple syrup with my lemonade.

A strawberry festival was taking place in Mattituck, but we passed it up in favor of Patty’s Berry Farm–a small farm across the street from Harbes’ (which also has berry picking and lots of activities geared toward slightly older kids).

Hudson was loving riding on Aron’s shoulders–until he realized that there was a strawberry below, and then it was an all-out war to get down to where the berry was waiting.

Hudson tried to eat every strawberry in sight! You’re not supposed to eat-and-pick, but his red-stained onesie might have given him away.
