Untitled

After seeing Nicole’s gorgeous photos (shot for the restaurant’s website), Aron and I jumped on Open Table to make immediate reservations at Danny Meyer’s new spot, “Untitled” at the Whitney. Additional inspiration is our recent feeling: “quick, let’s go out for dinner as much as possible before the baby comes.”(We’ve actually started making making a list of places and things we think might be best done before he’s here, even if we have every intention of continuing to enjoy things like these.)

Aron and I have been huge fans of just about any restaurant Danny Meyer has opened, so I had every confidence we would love this one, too. Currently, Untitled is open for breakfast and lunch only during the week; their dinner service is weekends only, featuring a $46 three-course, family-style set menu that changes daily based on what’s fresh at the Greenmarket. Besides seasonal ingredients, the menu features local purveyors; sources from everything from eggs (Urban State Garden Farms in Newark) to coffee (Stumptown Roasters in Red Hook) to pies (Four & Twenty Blackbirds in Brooklyn) are listed on the blackboard behind the bar.

Egg salad amuse bouches and a virgin mint and pineapple cocktail to start, followed by a crispy kale caesar salad…

…skirt steak and trout, with sides of broccoli rabe and new potatoes…

…followed by delicious huckleberry cobbler and Blue Marble vanilla ice cream for dessert.

(I just went back last week for breakfast! Look for a review soon on Serious Eats.)
