We were only in Norway for three days, but it made a big impression! We certainly went back and forth a few times about whether it was crazy of us to fly there for such a brief stay, but it’s not the easiest place to get to from California, and I’ve always wanted to ferry down a fjord. It was going to happen!
It’s been a big week! First, Hudson started Kindergarten. He’s been excited about it, so it was no surprise to me to see him take it all in stride. He picked out a pair of red shoes (“with laces!”) and got a new backpack for the occasion. There were a few extra hugs when we were leaving, maybe a few tears (from me) after we left, and there was a big, bright smile when I picked him up. Beyond that, the word of the day when anyone asked him for details was a brief “good.” But today he came out excited to tell me how you say the letter “E” in Spanish (it’s an immersion school) and he said “Gracias” to me when I gave him his snack. Clues about his day are slowly slipping out.
We may still be in sandals-mode around here for a while, but I’ve been flilpping through all the fall catalogs that have been arriving, anticipating cooler temperatures. And I realized, beyond the beaches, that there are pretty much four styles of shoes that would make my closet feel complete: an oxford, a sneaker, an ankle bootie, and something a bit more trendy and suited to going out—I’d go with a mule and a stacked heel. So, five styles really. I think I would really content with these shapes alone.
