It’s the end of an era! Today marks the first day that Yosemite’s historic hotel, The Ahwahnee, and many other lodging facilities, will be known by different names.
Though the ownership of the trademarked names is still in legal dispute, The Ahwahnee will become The Majestic Yosemite Hotel, Curry Village is now Half Dome Village, Wawona Hotel is called Big Trees Lodge, Badger Pass Ski Area is now Yosemite Ski & Snowboard Area, and Yosemite Lodge at the Falls will become Yosemite Valley Lodge.
However, if you’re traveling to Yosemite, there are only a few ways this might affect you this summer…
It feels daunting to sit down and try to begin writing Skyler’s 2-year update, which is why I’m a few weeks late. It’s not for any lack of excitement, or for lack of things to say, but for the challenge of being brief—at which I know I’m constantly failing (and have again).
So much happens between 18 months and 2 years. To another’s eye, the change isn’t as dramatic as from, say, birth to six months, but it’s during these six months that babyhood really seems to be slipping away the fastest. At two, she can barely be called a toddler anymore: she’s jumping and running all over the place, little blonde curls bouncing in her wake to create scenes that can feel almost cinematic at times. She’s also officially a preschooler.
When we were lucky enough to get to stay at a friend’s cabin in Cape Cod, she introduced us to the most marvelous breakfast item called “French breakfast muffins” at Chatham Cookware. When we stayed there again the next year, for an entire week, we had one every. single. day.
I spotted this recipe for “doughnut muffins” on Pure Wow and think these might be the secret. Is that a good thing or a very bad thing? Might have to find out this weekend…
