The heat of the panini press helps the banana stand up to the flavors of chunky peanut butter and sweet wild honey. I like to add a pinch of salt. Yum with a capital Y.
We’re taking a quick trip south for the long weekend! Have a good one!
These amazing side tables at Heath were–sadly–not for sale (as if we could have afforded them anyway). The Walnut pieces are made by Joshua Tree-based artist, Alma Allen, and I am basically in love. Gorgeous, no?
They’re on display at Heath SF. And as if I haven’t mentioned the Heath store in San Francisco enough already (here, here, and here), let me add that their kids’ book section (pictured above) is pretty awesome.
Also this weekend, we hosted a little port-tasting party at our house (partly inspired by a new no-kids policy at our friends’ favorite winery’s annual port event). Everyone contributed a bottle–which was promptly wrapped in brown paper and tied up with string–and took a notecard, and then did their best to choose a favorite from among seven or eight bottles.
I have to say, I’m a big fan of pseudo-scientific blind tastings of just about anything, so I of course highly recommend trying something like this. That said, you do have to be able to get over the dork-factor of handing out pens and paper to your friends after they arrive.
We plied them with pairings of favorite cheeses and dark chocolates and I’m happy to say that it was all a success.
