Skyler’s birthday was yesterday—so it was such a treat to have a party and celebrate it on the actual day! She has her own friends at school now, so she was very excited to welcome them to her house. I was so proud and happy watching her greet them as they came in and offer them blueberries. It felt like it was really her party—as much as possible it was exactly like the pretend ones she’s been holding with her pretend cake for a long time, now.
What are your plans for the weekend? We’re hosting some preschool friends of Skyler’s on Sunday to celebrate her birthday. I’m very excited for her. I feel like she’s been faux-planning her birthday party all year long. We’re going to do her favorite things: sing “Hello, everybody!” from Music Together, and decorate (mini) cakes. Otherwise, I haven’t prepped at all, so Saturday will be for clearing the decks and doing a little baking.
Have a good weekend! Here are some links if you’re in the mood. I tried to keep it a bit lighter this week…
We first took Hudson to Disneyland when he was 18 months old—and loved it! Who knows how I’ll feel when the kids are 8 years old (maybe that’s the best), but I’m such a fan of Disneyland for the under-5 set: it holds so much magic for them!
Skyler turns three this weekend, so we decided on a last-minute trip for her birthday present this year. She could meet Mickey, and we could get her in for free one last time.
Here are some photos and some tips we took away to share…
