Hot and fresh (without the neon sign)

It was cold on the day Ashley and I went to try the new donuts at the Brindle room in the East Village. This may have contributed to my elation with the hot, freshly made donuts–but that not withstanding, I’d go as far as to say they were the best donuts I’ve had here in the city. More in the cake family than the fluffy category, they are full of wonderfully crunchy bits on the outside. And while the chocolate-peanut-butter flavor was almost more of a cupcake, the fresh caramel and the powdered sugar donuts were outstanding. They open at 8 on weekdays which, sadly, is well after I’m at work, and make donuts until the dough runs out.

(P.S. More great NY donuts)
