Happy Donut Day! (& Friday Links)

Happy Donut Day! Or is it doughnut day? Either way, I’m going to be bringing out this two-ingredient recipe! There is a high number of questionable holidays floating around these days, but I’m happy to keep skepticism at bay for this one. Actually, there is a real history behind the holiday which has its origins in 1938, when the Chicago chapter of the Salvation Army came up with it as a morale booster and fund-raiser for the war effort.

Any fun plans this weekend? We’re actually headed up to Tahoe, so I’ll be taking this list of tips with me. Hello, summer!

If you’re in a reading mood, here are some links of note…

It may actually be too hot to stand over a stove in Sacramento this weekend. Locals: the best donut shops in town.

It’s the month of weddings! The science of “happily ever after.”

The Washington Post pens and publishes 500 articles a day. Say what?!

Really enjoying this book club pick so far!

Interesting thoughts on the term “girl boss.”

Pulling out the sunscreens I tested last year. This one has emerged as a favorite for the kids (love the non-aerosol spray).

Encouraging reminders in light of our barely planned trip to Europe. (In two weeks… eek!)

Look away! I don’t need any more sandals! Especially not these red lace-up sandals. Right?

Such a smart screen-time management product (the video made me laugh). I might have to use it on myself.

Who knew that Michael Cera’s music would be so lovely? (I missed this! Thanks, Crumb Bums!)

Habits of healthy and happy moms.

Finally, FilterEasy (whom I posted about here) just extended the chance to win free filters and a $250 Target gift card.

Enjoy the weekend! And Happy Donut Day!
